What is the Unlicensed Frequency Band in India?
When you don't require a specific license to use radio frequencies, that spectrum is called the Unlicensed Frequency Band. In India, these radio bands are used for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other short-range wireless communication technologies.
In order to foster creativity, connectivity, and accessibility to wireless services, the government reserves specific frequency ranges for unlicensed use. 2.4 to 5 GHz band is allowed for indoor low power wireless conditions, 5.825 to 5.875 GHz is allowed for outdoor, and 865 to 868 MHz is allowed for outdoor max 1 Watt tx power, 4 Watts Effective Radiated Power & 200 kHz carrier bandwidth.
Users and manufacturers can operate within these bands without the need for individual licenses, fostering the growth of wireless technology and enabling widespread connectivity across the country.
